About Us

The first Chalet Ski Shop opened in 1973 when the sport of skiing was more of a hobby than a business. In those early years our shop was a fraternity of friends and customers who skied together and worked together and shared the same passion for winter sports. By 1983, our Company had grown into a full-time year-round business and moved to Madison, Wisconsin, with an expanded store that included home furnishings along with ski and winter sports merchandise. 

In 1996, we expanded again and opened our large flagship store on Verona Road where we are currently located. In 2002, we opened a commercial division called Meridian Furniture Company to better serve the furniture needs of hotels, clubs, restaurants, and health care facilities. In 2007, we built a large warehouse and distribution facility in Belleville, Wisconsin where we stock a huge inventory of merchandise for quick local delivery and express shipping to our commercial clients throughout the Midwest. 

After 50 years, we are proud to be one of the largest family owned Ski and Patio specialty stores in the Midwest and we’ve received national recognition in both industries. Chalet was awarded “Ski Retailer of the Year” by SIA and nominated for several Apollo awards in the Outdoor Furniture Industry.
